With 16 years as a Hillbrook School parent under my belt, I’ve seen a lot of incredibly positive changes at 300 Marchmont Drive because more than anything else, Hillbrook is a school that keeps asking, “How can we be better?” This growth mindset was at the core of the “State of the School” address delivered November 14th by Head of School Mark Silver, Board Finance Chair Vlado Herman, and Chief Financial Officer Margaret Randazzo. Sitting with other parents at Brooke Acres, I learned that Vision 2020, the strategic plan for Hillbrook, has provided a clear path to betterment. Two years into that plan, we have grown the middle school, bringing extraordinary energy and new programs to students including more cross-curricular and in-depth teaching and an impactful “Reach Beyond Block”; we have begun building The Hub which will provide more opportunities for hands-on, collaborative learning and transform the campus; we have raised salaries and improved benefits to make Hillbrook a destination workplace; and we have committed to intentional inclusivity with Flexible Tuition so everyone feels a full sense of membership. As Board of Trustees Finance Committee Chair Vlado Herman said, Hillbrook belongs to all of us. Today, more than ever, we have good reason to be proud of our school. You can watch and learn the reasons why by following this link to the State of the School address.
