In a first for Hillbrook School, one of our alums has gone platinum. Nick DiMaria, who plays guitar for country artist Devin Dawson, hit the platinum mark with the single, “All on Me”, meaning that the song has now sold more than a million copies. Nick’s lead guitar surely helped the song become such a hit. It’s been quite a year for DiMaria. He has been living largely out of a suitcase as he tours with Devin Dawson. The band has logged more than 100 thousand miles this past year. Nick’s mom, Deb, says the only states they haven’t been to are Alaska and Maine. The DiMaria family made a move to Nashville to be closer to Nick. Their daughter, Natalie, who also went to Hillbrook is now in 7th grade.
Just hearing about Nick’s year is exhilarating; he is living the life he dreamt of as an aspiring musician. This past summer, Devin Dawson opened for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their Soul 2 Soul tour, as well as appearing on the Today Show, Ellen, and Late Night with Seth Meyers. In the fall, they opened for country singers Brett Elderidge and Thomas Rhett on their tours, and played for American troops in Japan during a USO show. In January, DiMaria and Devin Dawson will tour the UK with the band Dan + Shay and they are scheduled to play the CMC Country Music Festival in Brisbane, Australia in March. Not bad for a guy who got his start on the Hillbrook School Talent Show stage.
In case you missed it, here’s our interview with Nick from the Spring 2018 Hillbrook Quarterly.
